What Is Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery?
Maxillofacial surgery is a surgical specialism concerning the treatment of conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.
Our consultant maxillofacial surgeons treat a wide range of conditions. These include:
•Wisdom tooth removal
•Oro facial pain management
•Facial fracture management
•Treatment of jaw cysts
•Placement of dental implants
•Oral submucous fibrosis management
Tooth Removal/Extraction
If you have advanced tooth decay or an impacted wisdom tooth, you may require oral surgery to have them safely extracted. Depending on your particular case and the severity of your problem, you will be given anaesthetic solution. It is important to always get the advice of an oral surgeon if you are worried about any of your teeth which needs removal. Never attempt to pull out your own tooth out at home as this could cause a more serious problem for you.

At our clinic we have the right equipment and sterile environment to perform this type of procedure with the utmost care and your recovery can be fairly quick.

Wisdom Tooth Removal/Third Molar Extraction
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth to erupt, often not appearing until you are 17 or older. Whilst some wisdom teeth cause no problems, they are prone to become impacted or not to erupt properly. Some people's mouths are not big enough to comfortably contain 32 teeth.
Impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth are difficult to clean, meaning plaque and bacteria can build up, leading to tooth decay and gum disease. Because these teeth develop internally, they can sometimes form painful cysts that can damage surrounding teeth and the jawbone beneath.

Buried and impacted wisdom teeth may require surgery to remove them. Our Clinic offers a fully-equipped center for such and other maxillofacial surgeries.
Oro Facial Pain Management
Most people experience muscle pain at some time that typically resolves on its own after a few weeks. But for some people, muscle pain persists. In people with oro facial pain, sensitive spots are known as trigger points. These areas develop in the taut, ropey bands of the muscles (the fascia). When pressure is applied to these trigger points there is pain (called referred pain) in a different part of the body.

Our consultants are well experienced to treat such conditions to improve the quality of your life.

Maxillofacial Fracture Management
Maxillofacial trauma is any injury to the face or jaws. Facial trauma may present with skin lacerations, burns, obstruction to the nasal cavity or sinuses, damage to the orbital (eye) sockets, fracture to the jawbone, and missing or broken teeth. Facial traumas are a serious issue because they can cause permanent disfigurement to the patient’s face and a loss of function.
Nance oro dental multi speciality clinic prides itself in providing the best possible care to its maxillofacial trauma patients. We also provide secondary surgeries to patients in whom previous surgery was unsatisfactory due to various reasons.
Treatment Of Jaw Cysts
A dental cyst is a closed off cavity filled with semi solid or liquid material. Cysts commonly establish themselves in the soft tissues of the mouth & face such as the gums, lips and even in the space surrounding a tooth that has yet to emerge from the jaw bone. There are two ways to treat a dental cyst: Surgery – for the removal of all types of cysts or tumours. Endodontic/Root canal Therapy – This is done in conjunction with surgical removal if the cyst is associated with an infected root canal.

Our expert at Nance oro dental multi speciality Clinic has a vast experience in dealing with cases of Jaw Cysts and Tumour.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots used as a permanent replacement when one or more teeth have been lost. Implants are small titanium screws that are placed directly in the jawbone. The implant acts as a stable support for replacement teeth. This could be in the shape of crowns, bridges or secured dentures. Unlike other tooth replacement solutions, dental implants actually promote healthy bone growth.
Our Clinic implant team has extensive experience in implant treatment. Whether you are looking for a single dental implant or a full-mouth restoration, everything can be carried out at our comfortable, well-equipped practice.
Oral Submucous Fibrosis Management
Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) is a precancerous condition resulting from addiction to tobacco chewing. It is a complex disease that is pre-malignant and chronic condition found commonly in Indians and Southeast Asians. OSMF tends to grow from the posterior part of the oral cavity and slowly spreads outward. According to research, regular chewing of paan masala and gutkha are the leading causes of Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF). The treatment for OSMF depends on the stage at which the disease is detected.
In case it is detected at an early stage, then it is reversible with medical/surgical help from our Clinic and cessation of chewing tobacco by the patient.
