Children’s Teeth
Studies have shown that the younger the age that you bring your child to the dental practice, even if just for a check-up, the more likely they are to have a positive experience and grow up not to be afraid of the dentist. As a general rule of thumb, your child should have their first visit to the dentist by at least 7 years old.
To keep your child’s mouth in excellent shape, we recommend you come in for regular dental hygiene appointments and dental check-ups to benefit from our experts. Our team will take special care of your child to make them feel safe and cared for.
Children’s Dental Hygiene
Regular dental care is important for both children and adults. By the age of two, your child should have already visited a dentist for a check-up. Having regular dental checkups for your child also allows your dentist to check the condition of your child’s teeth and is a great way for you and your child to see how well they are brushing! Dental checkups are even more important for children who are exposed to high amounts of sugary foods and drinks, with a higher risk of cavities or suffering from tooth decay. As a parent or guardian, it’s vital to have an understanding of how to prevent tooth decay in children, as well as knowing if you are brushing your child’s teeth correctly.
Our team can show you preventative methods you can use and how to upkeep your child’s oral health and hygiene to ensure they have a fantastic smile.

Common Dental Problems In Children
Some of the most common dental issues in children include:
-
Tooth decay
-
Tooth sensitivity
-
Gingivitis and gum disease
-
Orthodontic problems
-
Excessive thumb sucking
-
Teeth grinding
-
Bad Breath
-
Baby tooth loss

Cavities
Cavities are one of the most common dental problems in toddlers and children. Also referred to as tooth decay, a cavity is a permanently damaged area in a tooth. They can develop in your child’s primary or baby teeth, and if so, you might shrug it off — your child will eventually lose these teeth, right? So what does it matter? But you shouldn’t ignore a cavity. Cavities aren’t only an adult problem — they can also develop in children and toddlers. So it’s important to recognize the early signs of a cavity and then speak with your child’s dentist.
In our clinic, our consultants have been trained to handle kids very well and we have a child friendly equipment design keeping all their physical & mental needs in mind.

Children’s Orthodontics
If children’s orthodontic treatment is required, being able to start this sooner rather than later can be very beneficial. Between 7 and 9 years old is the ideal time to take them for orthodontic treatment because of how teeth are developing in children of this age group.

Some common signs that your child may need orthodontic treatment include:
-
Loud breathing
-
Clicking jaw
-
Unusual loss of baby teeth
-
Out-of-proportion teeth
-
Chewing inside the mouth
Habit Breaking Appliances
a lot of parents seek us out because they’re worried about their child using a pacifier or sucking their thumb. These habits are completely normal in infants and sucking is a natural instinct. In fact, some babies even suck their fingers and thumbs in the womb! However, when oral habits, including thumb sucking and tongue thrusting, continue past the first few years of life, severe malocclusion (an improper bite) can occur. For kids who have a really difficult time kicking the habit, when all else fails, habit-breaking appliances may be indicated.
Our specialist children’s orthodontist provide all such types of appliances customized based on your child’s needs.

Space Maintainers
At Nance Oro Dental Multi Speciality Clinic, we advocate that baby teeth are important to the development of the teeth, jaw bones and muscles to help guide the permanent teeth in position.
If the space after an early baby tooth loss is not maintained, can lead to teeth shift, later causing crowding or open space of teeth increasing the need for an orthodontic treatment.

A professional consult with our consultant can help to determine the need of a space maintainer.
